The company was established in 1985 and has operated in various legal forms ever since. Initially as EiA (Elektronika i Automatyka), the company developed in two areas – automation system servicing and control offered in the country and control system construction based on PLC SIMATIC controllers supplied by Siemens – offered abroad.
In 1989, dr. Bronisław Sarzyński, an employee of the Faculty of Electronics at the Gdańsk University of Technology and the owner of his own company, organized an informal team which he headed and which, based on several years’ experience in applying SIMATIC controllers, developed its own PLC controller titled SARMATIC as well as custom-designed PROSTER programming language offering considerable improvements compared to the Step 5 language.
With the finished product, the group established Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Wdrożeniowe Systemów Automatyki STESAR Sp. z o.o. in 1990. Despite its considerable advantages, the SARMATIC controller did not achieve market success, since it was launched in a flood of imported, complete industrial installations which did not accept individual solutions. Later on, faced with controllers offered by large global manufacturers, the company suffered from competitive disadvantage in production profitability and servicing costs.
Independent from the production of the SARMATIC controller, STESAR developed services in design and execution of “turnkey” PLC systems, which became its primary activity in 1993. All applications created at that time were produced in cooperation with German companies and for foreign recipients. In this period, STESAR partnered with Mac Panther AG/GmbH, with offices in Germany and Switzerland.
In 1994/95, STESAR supplied and launched control systems in the majority of new machines in two complete hammer drill factories in China and Thailand.
In 1997, the company changed its legal form – from a limited-liability company, it transformed into a sole business entity.
At this moment, we are providing the same services – design and execution of industrial control systems. We have maintained our profile as the constructors of comprehensive automation systems: from concept development, through the search of solutions, design development, equipment supply and software installment, to personnel training and servicing.
We are often subcontracted to supply automation systems to complex internal handling system projects for clients all over Europe. Internal handling systems have thus become one of our specialties.
We are constantly developing. We have perfected our control system design and construction processes. We strive for perfection. We have also developed in the financial aspect. For several years now, our turnover has been growing by 30-50% a year.
An essential part of our activity is the direct export of services. Our control systems can be found in: Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia.
